![]() ![]() If you use OpenGL rendering, Vectorworks 2012 and Vectorworks 2013 contain significant OpenGL improvements that drastically improve the rendering of shadows. Larger displays, such as displays that are 30” or larger, should use a modern graphics card with at least 512MB of dedicated VRAM, with 1GB or more recommended. Medium-sized displays with a native resolution of 1600x1200 or less should be driven by a graphics card with at least 256MB of dedicated VRAM. The amount of Video RAM (VRAM) required to drive Vectorworks adequately depends largely on the size of the display being used and the complexity of the Vectorworks document. Especially as they are advocating for users to subscribe to Service Select where the newer versions are included in the annual subscription. ![]() Vectorworks has decided that they are better off spending the engineering resources on making VW better rather than making older versions run on newer versions of the Mac OS. You may want to check out more software for Mac, such as Vectorworks 2013 Viewer, Vectorworks 2010 Viewer or Vectorworks 2012 Viewer, which might be similar to Vectorworks Cloud Services. We choose our recommendation based on our perception of mainstream needs and the current available hardware. Faster or slower processor clock speeds have a predictable impact on Vectorworks performance. Mac Intel CPUs are substantially faster than G5s and we recommend using Intel based Mac hardware in all performance-sensitive applications. ![]() ![]()
